Cause they don't want to erase your information, you better don't create an account with Wish.

We're all about gadgets this days and age.

And if there's one of this companies out there bombing you with ads on every single app, that's Wish.

My nightmare starts when I checked online one USB-PORT for $7 that I wanted to buy and I create, sadly, my account.

Have to say that one of the few accounts I have from Google was opened in Spain, and I use that, but putting my aussie address for shipments.

Later on, once login and swaping menu options, as always the article currency changed so it wasn't that affordable. Something we are use to is realise these not anymore illegal but dirty marketing techniques wich in this companies are very usual.

Then I go to erase my account and yeah, I saw the typical "DEACTIVATE" wich clearly means "YOUR PRIVATE INFORMATION WILL BE STORE AND AVAILABLE YET IN OUR SERVERS".

I contact then asking "Please completely erase my email and information from your servers, not just deactivate the account.". Their answer follows:

"Hi Pedro,

Thanks for getting in touch with us. According to our records, your region is outside the scope applicable privacy laws and we're unable to process your deletion request.

However, you're still welcome to deactivate your Wish account. To do so, log into your Wish account on the app and go to \"Account Settings\". From there, select \"Deactivate Account\".

If you no longer have the app, you can deactivate by logging into your account at Once logged in go to Settings > Account Settings and scroll to the bottom of the page, where you'll see a red \"Manage Account\" link. Click the link, select the “Deactivate Account” option, and follow the account verification instructions.

It may take up to 24 hours for your Wish account to be deactivated.

For a better understanding, ContextLogic Inc., a corporation registered in Delaware, U.S.A., owns Wish and other online marketplaces, including Geek, Mama, Home, and Cute. ContextLogic’s CEO is Peter Szulczewski. ContextLogic Inc. is headquartered at One Sansome Street, 40th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94104. with company servers are in California - San Francisco but it has a special clausule on their privacy terms: "If you live in Switzerland or the European Economic Area (EEA), your personal data is controlled by ContextLogic B.V., a company based in the Netherlands. " and what does it mean? That this agent went to check my shipment address and validate my information as an australian resident without even enquiry me, so decided to "NOT ERASE MY ACCOUNT" because the most probably were going to send my items to Australia? WTF?

Anyways, I started my battle to demostrate that I'm spanish or I have documentation that legally make me citizen there, but for those WHO WANTS TO JUST REMOVE THE ACCOUNT FROM WISH, PRIOR TO ASK FOR DELETION, IS BETTER TO CHANGE YOUR ADDRESS TO ANYWHERE IN EUROPE. Even when they say "You may also ask us to delete your personal data, however we may be required to keep certain data to comply with legal obligations, such as local tax regulations. Deactivation must be completed in order to delete an account (and the personal data associated with it)."

IF THAT DOESN'T MAKE THE JOB following this other clausule YOU SHOULD PUT THE INFORMATION ON YOUR ACCOUNT AS A MINOR, THEN SOLICITE THEM TO ERASE IT. As long as, in the profile settings you are not able to change the year when you were born, you can declare this other minor use your email/information to open the account. Easy.
